A year after I started working at Ohio University and every year since, UCM has designed and distributed an annual report from the president to highlight previous milestones towards achieving its vision of becoming the nation’s best transformative learning community. Each report has its own unique style and theme, which present a view of the University that is as diverse as our student body. The 2013 Annual Report highlights the University’s responsibility to students as a 21st Century research institution and several noteworthy points of pride.
In addition to setting its own records for the size of its freshman class, Ohio University led the state in enrollment growth this past year. The institution reported a $1.5 billion economic impact on the state (2012) and is meeting the primary care needs of medically underserved populations in Ohio through the Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine. The Heritage College is the only osteopathic medical school in the state and is expanding into Dublin and Cleveland, Ohio. Most recently announced is OHIO’s new, comprehensive tuition and fee model called The OHIO Guarantee. The plan has been approved by the Chancellor of the Ohio Board of Regents and will affect every new degree seeking first-year or transfer undergraduate OHIO student beginning in the 2015-16 academic year.
To honor throwback Thursday, feel free to peruse back issues of the Annual Report from the President.
